USC commit to see Notre Dame

Melquise Stovall remains happily committed to USC but Notre Dame offered in the last few days and there are plans now to take an official visit to South Bend.
"I was hearing from them," Stovall said. "They just needed my transcript.

"I like them. The tradition at the school is tremendous so I definitely want to get up there on an official visit and see what they have to offer."
The Lancaster (Calif.) Paraclete four-star all-purpose back said he's been watching Notre Dame for years but still needs to learn more about the school and football program before he gets too serious with the Irish.
A lot of that education could happen when he takes a trip to Notre Dame in the fall - which he called a "guarantee."
"It's a huge offer," Stovall said. "I've been watching them as I grew up. I don't know a lot about them and I'm still trying to do some research.
"They want to use me as a hybrid like a running back, slot and return man."
The four-star said a summer trip would not be possible because he's taking high school classes to graduate early. An official visit to visit with the Irish will happen but he's not sure of a date yet.
A trip to Miami is also expected and it's possible Stovall could visit Utah as well. An official visit to USC is a definite.
In his junior season, Stovall rushed for 1,603 yards and 20 touchdowns on 196 carries. Rivals.com rates him as the second-best all-purpose back in the 2016 class.
