USC commit still being pursued

Tashon Smallwood has been committed to USC since late February and while some programs have backed off there are still two teams that continue to pursue the Fresno (Calif.) Central East defensive tackle.
"It's been kind of slow but I've been hearing from Miami and Cal a lot," Smallwood said.

"I kind of figured it would slow down a little. It hasn't all that much at all."
Cal has been particularly aggressive with Smallwood, a 6-foot-1, 285-pound prospect who committed to the Trojans after visiting for their junior day.
The new Golden Bears' coaching staff wants Smallwood to visit for a junior day and the Fresno Central East standout is definitely considering it.
The message from Miami is the same - that the coaches want him to schedule a visit sometime this off-season or at least continue to consider them during his senior year.
"Both of them want me to visit," Smallwood said.
"Cal told me to basically keep my options open. They said I would be perfect there and they want me to come to visit for junior day. Miami wants me to come visit out there, too.
"I'm still probably going to some junior days. I'll probably go to Cal and that's probably it for now."
So far, Smallwood has received offers from USC, Arizona, Boise State, Cal, Houston, Miami, Nevada, Oklahoma and Oregon State.
Other than a probable visit to Cal this off-season, Smallwood said he's not particularly interested in taking other trips.
