USC commit Raymond Scott talks about pledge to Trojans

FONTANA, Calif. – Raymond Scott has been committed to USC for nearly a year and it does not look like he’s swaying one bit from the Trojans.

“Happily (committed),” Scott said at the Passing Down 7on7 tournament this past weekend. “One-hundred percent solid.”

The four-star linebacker from Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne has spent a lot of time around the USC program, knows the coaches well and said he feels most comfortable there.

Those were some of the biggest considerations for Scott, who was also excited that the Trojans won the Rose Bowl this past season after a slow start.

“The family atmosphere from the coaches to the staff to the students, SC alone, together, I feel like I belong there,” Scott said. “It’s just being there, I love the atmosphere altogether.

“(Winning the Rose Bowl) was a big factor. It showed a lot of kids what SC is about. Not how the season started but how it ended. It showed off (on signing day) with all those kids signing.”

Scott remains committed to USC but other schools – especially UCLA, Oklahoma and Oregon – continue to push.

This offseason, the four-star linebacker could take some visits but he’s not sure of destinations yet. A trip over to Westwood to familiarize himself more with that staff, especially linebackers coach Scott White, is a strong possibility.

“I keep in touch with (coaches) just to show respect,” Scott said. “I don’t want to give any negativity to any other coaches because I’m committed. It’s all respect.

“We haven’t really been talking (with the UCLA staff) but the last time we talked (White) wanted me to come check it out. I haven’t really been out there yet to UCLA to meet the coaches. It would be great to see how it is.”
