USC coming on strong for four-star

Four-star defensive tackle Christian Tupou (6-3, 260, 4.8) from Sacramento (Calif.) Grant has to be one of the fastest rising prospects on the west coast.
Hot on the heels of interest from the Miami Hurricanes a school closer to home has put on the full court press and is making quite an impression on the talented defensive lineman from Northern California.

"USC offered me on Friday," Tupou said. "They watched my film and that's when they offered me.
"I'm going to visit USC this coming Friday (February 3rd)," Tupou said. "USC only started recruiting me about two weeks , but they came on strong and all of a sudden, the Trojans offer me."
According to Tupou the reason that USC didn't recruit him earlier in the process was they didn't know if two of their defensive linemen were leaving or not.
Besides USC, the schools still in the race for Tupou's services are BYU, Fresno State, Oregon State, and Arizona State. All of the schools mentioned have already had their in-house visits except USC.
"I will have an in-house visit with USC Monday Evening," Tupou said. "I'm looking forward to it."
"It is pretty much a tight race," Tupou said. "If I enjoy this visit to USC then I will feel even better about USC.
"By recruiting this hard on this late notice and then offering me shows me something," Tupou said. "It only took USC four days before offering me."
"Even if I enjoy USC I probably won't announce until signing day," Tupou said. "That was my plan all along, not to commit until signing day."
USC secondary coach Rocky Seto is the coach in charge of recruiting Tupou.
As a senior, while attracting a lot double teams, Tupou accounted for 92 tackles, five sacks and blocked one punt.
