Update on Jacksonville Mandarins Trio

For the upcoming high school football season, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin will be one of the top programs in the state. Mandarin has three highly sought after college prospects, including offensive lineman David Price, running back Brian Dennison, and defensive tackle Marcus Thomas. In front of 27 college scouts, the standouts got off to a good start by defeating Englewood 14-7 and Parker 15-7. FlaRecruiting.com caught up Head Coach Richard Burnoski to talk about the trio’s performance in the jamboree and some recruiting.
“Dennison was outstanding,” Burnoski said “He carried the ball eight times for 164 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a two point conversion. He alone accounted for 20 points. There were 27 scouts at the game, and each of them who came up to me and shook my hand after the game told me that they were offering Brian. Florida State and Florida have offered him in writing. Miami told me they are going to offer him. Wake Forrest and Iowa dropped by the school yesterday and they both offered.”

“Marcus Thomas was unbelievable,” Burnoski said. “He’s a man playing with kids. He has offers from Florida State, Miami and Florida. LSU’s Head Coach Nick Saban was by on Tuesday and coaches from both Notre Dame and Southern Cal have been by also. Some schools were concerned about his grade but things have gotten a lot better for him. Recently, he scored 850 on the SAT and this semester he boosted up his core up by getting three A’s and one C. His core grade point average should be 2.5 now.”
“David Price has been offered by Florida,” Burnoksi said. “Florida State hasn’t officially offered him yet. Coach Kines told me that offensive line Coach Heggins has to approve it first.”
Look for a scouting report soon on all three of these outstanding players.
