Update on available top 2017 QBs

Where he stands: McCaffrey has brothers at Duke (Max) and Stanford (Christian), so he's already gotten a jumpstart by watching them go through the recruiting process and he's also gotten a good sense of both programs.
According to Rivals.com West Analyst Blair Angulo, Ed McCaffrey, their father and former NFL wide receiver, said that having brothers at those two schools will not influence any future decisions.
The way it looks, McCaffrey is not in any hurry. The four-star really likes UCLA (he visited this summer) and position coach Taylor Mazzone has already been by Valor Christian during the spring. That could bode very well for the Bruins moving forward.
But McCaffrey has already visited Michigan and wants to get out to a game in Ann Arbor this season as well. Probably more than anything, the 2017 prospect and his family want to see the on-the-field particulars from the schools that have offered whether that's coaching style or offensive system. McCaffrey is a dual-threat guy, so the right fit is especially important.
PQB
Davis Mills
Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian
Where he stands: Mills, rated as the third-best pro-style QB in 2017, might be from the South but he has a penchant for Pac-12 schools, especially after taking a round of unofficial visits this summer.
According to Rivals.com Southeast Analyst Woody Wommack, Stanford could very well be the frontrunner for him after he visited with the Cardinal this summer and got offered. The only other Stanford QB offer out this summer went to Opelika, Ala., four-star Jake Bentley.
Mills also really liked his UCLA trip this summer and the Bruins cannot be counted out by any means. Michigan just offered and Mills could take a close look there, coach Jim Harbaugh's resume being one reason and another its academic and athletic mix.
A dark horse could be Oregon. The Greater Atlanta Christian standout camped there this summer and he apparently really liked Eugene. There is no set decision timetable and Mills does not seem to be in any rush.
DQB
Tua Tagovailoa
Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis
Where he stands: USC is the team to beat at this point for Tagovailoa, who has told Angulo that if he needed to sign right now, it would be the Trojans. The St. Louis standout is not getting pushed necessarily to commit by the USC coaching staff and the four-star is not in a rush.
Watch out if Oregon offers. Tagovailoa, the third-best dual-threat QB, goes to the same high school that Marcus Mariota attended and the two have been compared, fairly or unfairly, so that could play a big factor in his early recruitment. Also, the Ducks have had tremendous success recruiting Hawaiian players and that could influence Tagavailoa moving forward.
As for a decision timetable, Tagavailoa could wait through his junior season. It's expected by sometime around this time next year the 2017 four-star wants to have it done.
