Newton, Texas, running back Darwin Barlow has been gearing up this spring to take some visits, and this weekend could be the start of a very busy June for the four-star running back.
He’ll head to Arkansas this weekend for his first official visit before heading to Oklahoma State on June 14-16, and he hopes to get one more in with LSU before the end of the month. Even though he's kicking things off with his trip to Fayetteville, the Razorbacks may need to roll out the red carpet if they’re going to be able to keep pace with some of the other teams that have been making headway with him this spring.
“I wasn’t really thinking that I wanted to go out there, but the coaches have just been so nice,” he said. “Coach (Jeff) Traylor, especially, is a guy that I have gotten along with. I just want to check on it out there just in case.”
Organizing an official to LSU could be a crucial moment in Barlow’s recruitment, as he seems to already have a fondness for several other programs. He certainly seems willing to include the Tigers in that group, as he thinks they have done a good job letting him know that he could be a focal point in their offense going forward.
“They’re real serious about competing for me,” he said. “I think they have a couple of other running backs that they are in the race for, but I like it out there. I feel like I am their top guy because they’re trying to add more of a passing attack to their offense and they think I can help them do that.”
IN HIS WORDS
On his upcoming official visit to Oklahoma State
“I’m just going to try and see and do everything,” he said. “I’m looking forward to it because I’ve never been on an official visit before. I just want to check out the place and meet with the coaches, I heard it’s nice out there so I want to look and see for myself.”
“The coaches came down to see me a lot over the spring and that means a lot,” he said. “It shows me that they really want me. They think that I can be a major asset to them and they have brought up me possibly graduating early to get up there quicker.”
“They have watched me during the spring play running back and receiver,” he said. “I think that I fit perfectly in their offense – they’re always sending me plays telling me that I can be their next Christopher Carson.”
