UNLV lands SoCal DB

UNLV picked up a nice commitment from Culver City (Calif.) defensive back Daryl Forte after the athlete visited Las Vegas officially this past weekend.
Forte, 5-10, 180 pounds is a solid defensive back who did a little of everything for he Centaurs last season. At corner, he led the team with 81 tackles to go with three interceptions. He added 393 yards and nine touchdowns running the ball and added one score on special teams.

"Coach Sanford first offered me on a home visit last Wednesday," Forte said. "I wanted to wait to see the school before committing and once I got there, I knew it was the best place for me. I ended up committing on Saturday and really had a great time on the visit. Friday we had lunch at the ESPN Zone and then we went out that night with our player host.
"Saturday, we did the campus tour and saw the football facilities. We did all the football stuff that day like meet with the coaches and just talked about my role on the team. They want me to come in as a corner and return kicks and punts for them. I'm very excited about my decision and I like Coach Sanford a lot. He's a good person and someone you can tell is real genuine and honest. I'm planning to major in Business Management and would like to be a sports agent when I'm done with football."
Forte said he was also hearing from Nevada, Hawaii, Idaho and Iowa State.
