UNLV lands in-state linebacker

UNLV is a nice little roll right now as we head down the stretch towards Signing Day. They didn't have to go too far for their latest commitment landing one of the top linebackers from their very own backyard.
The latest player to join the team is Western's (Nev.) Las Vegas standout Ron Paulo.

I just committed earlier today," Paulo said. "I took my visit this past weekend to UNLV and just feel it's the best overall fit for me. It's close to home and I've been there a number of times before but that wasn't really the main reason for my decision.
"I just really liked the coaches there and especially Coach Sanford. He's a great guy and I think he's the coach that will help turn the program around. The fact that my friends and family can come and see me play all the time is an added bonus but I just really liked the school itself.
"The coaches also sold me on how I could come in and compete for playing time as a true freshman. They don't have a lot of linebackers on the team right now so I'm looking forward to getting out there and trying to earn a spot. This whole process has been pretty tough and stressful for me and I'm glad it's over. I've gotten to know a lot of coaches from other schools and it was tough to tell them no. That was the hardest part for me but I knew UNLV was the place for me so I didn't even take any other visits.
"Utah State and Oregon State came in for home visits and Utah State still wants me to take an official visit this weekend. As of right now, I'm not sure if I'm going to visit there or not. I might go and check it out but I'm pretty solid with UNLV and very happy with my decision."
