Unexpected offer for top OL/DL

Lebanon, Pa. offensive tackle/defensive end Jared Odrick already had more than 15 written offers before checking the mail on Tuesday. Despite receiving new offers almost daily, the latest one was quite a surprise.
"I got an offer from Oklahoma in the mail," said the 6-foot-6, 295-pounder. "I wasn't expecting an offer from them. We sent one tape to them a week or so ago and then I get a letter from coach Stoops saying I have an offer. It's an honor."

Odrick now lists Oklahoma near the top of his list along with Virginia, Penn State, Maryland, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Iowa and UConn. He also recently received offers from Boston College, Northwestern and Minnesota.
"I'd like to hear from Michigan and Ohio State as well," he said. "I've been to junior days at Penn State, Virginia and Maryland and I'm going to UConn this weekend."
Out of the junior days, Maryland's stood out.
"I spoke to coach Friedgen for a while and, while there were like 120 kids there, I spent some time with the coaches," he said. "Virginia and Penn State were nice as well though."
Of the schools on his short list, Notre Dame is the only program that hasn't offered yet.
"They said they will soon."
Odrick will attend the NIKE Camp at State College, Pa. on April 30 and the Blue Chip Combine on May 2nd at Rutgers University. He's hoping to crack the Rivals100 soon.
"I think I belong there," he said. "I plan on showing it."
