Undersized WR makes big impact

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Not one of the biggest players on the field, Hitchcock, Texas wide receiver Jordan Turner does make one of the biggest impacts. At 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, Turner was coming up with big plays in a variety of ways during the Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament. His big-play ability has been on display all summer long.
"I've been doing pretty good," Turner said. "I've been going to camps and lifting weights. I ran a 4.31 at Oklahoma State. I went to UT, I'm going to A&M Sunday and I'm going to U of H. I'm trying to get better but also show what I can do because coming from small schools you gotta show them what you can do."

One of Turner's biggest assets is his speed and quickness and he has proven it all summer long.
"My strength is just my quickness, my speed," he said. "if I get a step on you, nobody can catch me. I think my slowest time I ran all summer is a 4.44."
While Turner prefers offense, he also has the ability to play on the defensive ball. However most of the schools recruiting him see him as a slot despite his willingness to play defense, where he had four interceptions going both ways last season.
"There's a lot of them that want me at DB," he said. "It really doesn't matter to me. I would like to play offense though. I've been playing both sides of the ball since I was a kid. I'm used to it. When I have to sit down, I get mad."
To date, Turner has offers from Houston and Rice and he thinks more could be on the way.
"I've been talking to SMU a lot," he said. "I think they're on the verge because I went up there and ran. I talked to coach June Jones. I think they're going to start coming around. Right now I like SMU a lot. June Jones can make you look into it but I really don't know. I'm just waiting around. I'm not really in a hurry. I'm still worried about next season and trying to get a ring."
