Underrated QB gets chance

One of the most underrated quarterbacks on the west coast this season was J.C. Lewis (6-0, 190, 4.8) from Walnut Creek (Calif.) Las Lomas. He will accept a full scholarship to play football at Southern University.
Lewis is another quarterback who was a student at the position of the acclaimed Roger Theder. Theder who helped Kyle Wright, Dennis Dixon, Sam Keller, T.C. Ostrander and others told Rivals that Lewis right there with the best of them.

Needless to say Southern head coach Pete Richardson is one happy coach and it is easy to see why. Lewis threw for over 8,000 yards and 67 touchdowns in his three years as a varsity starter. He was a three time all-league selection. Lewis a two-time all-state player.
Lewis set six individual single season records, six individual single game records, set three career records and set three team single game records. Now you know why Coach Richardson is grinning from ear-to-ear.
Lewis is a clutch performer, in the final game of the season with his team down 14-0 he led a comeback by rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns and completed 11 of 21 passes for 197 yards and two more scores in guiding the Knights to their first NCS championship since 1992.
Lewis completed an official visit last weekend where he called this morning and gave Coach Richardson his verbal commitment to attend Southern University.
Lewis felt that this was the best combination of competitive Div 1AA football, ability to receive a degree in engineering. Another positive for Lewis choosing Southern is he has family in the area.
