UNC commit sets up visit

Coffeyville (Kan.) Coffeyville C.C. four-star safety Melvin Williams surprised many people when he committed to North Carolina without taking an official visit back in early October.
However, the 6-foot, 205-pounder said his pledge still stands firm and he can't wait to take his visit to Chapel Hill next weekend.

"I've only been up there for a basketball game," Williams said. "So this will be my first real chance to see what it's like around the football team, the coaches, the players and everybody. I'm excited to see what it's like. I'm going to have a lot of questions, but I think it'll be a great opportunity to see what my future is going to be like."
Williams said while he does remain solid to North Carolina other schools have not stopped calling.
"I still talk to Oklahoma State and Clemson," Williams said. "They're both still calling me all the time."
So is he interested in taking other visits?
"I don't know," he said. "I'm solid and North Carolina is where I'm going. But the other schools say they're going to still call until I tell them to stop calling."
Williams still remains on track to sign and graduate at semester.
"I'm only taking 14 hours this semester, so things have been pretty easy," he said.
"I was on top of my grades early on, so I'm taking some easier classes this semester. I'm ready to get out of here and start my career in college."
