UNC comes calling for Memphis DB

Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven cornerback Gene Robinson has seen his recruiting stock on a steady climb since his first offer arrived. Recently, Alabama, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt have been among the teams that have extended offers Robinson's way. This week, Robinson picked up offer number eight in North Carolina.
"They called coach and told coach to tell me to call them," Robinson said. "When I called them they said that they were offering and that the offer was in the mail."

What does Robinson know about the ACC program?
"Not too much," he said. "I hear they have a nice campus but not too much. I'm going to look more into it because their coach that's recruiting me (Everett Withers), he coaches DBs and coached Pacman (Jones) and Samari Rolle."
Robinson hopes to get to North Carolina as one of his summer visits but his schedule is still very much in the air. One school he will be visiting is Notre Dame, though football isn't the first priority for the visit.
"June 15 through July 3rd I'm going to engineering prep school on the Notre Dame campus," said Robinson who plans to major in computer engineering.
Though the visit will be for academic reasons, he will also be keeping football in mind as Notre Dame has shown Robinson a good bit of interest.
"They talk to coach a lot," he said. "I'm going to see the campus while I'm up there and we'll see as the season progresses if they offer."
