UGA, Va. Tech in front for 2016 DB

It's still very early in the process for 2016 three-star Atlanta (Ga.) Grady defensive back Marlon Character, but the talented playmaker already has a favorite school.
"I like Georgia the most right now out of all the schools that are recruiting me," the 6-foot, 173-pound Character said. "I also like Virginia Tech, Coach Gray has been doing a great job of recruiting me, and South Carolina, Ole Miss and Kentucky are there too but right now my top two is Virginia Tech and Georgia."

Character has already visited Georgia several times and has already started to develop quite the relationship with defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.
"I like the facilities up there and I like Coach Pruitt a lot," he said. "I like the system, the defense that they run and all the coaches are cool, Coach Richt, too. It just feels like home every time I'm up there."
Character is listed in the Rivals.com database as an athlete, but said Georgia likes him on defense only.
"I think I would fit in good there at safety or corner," he said. "Coach Pruitt, I think he would coach me up and put me in the best spot. I like him as a defensive backs coach. But no matter where I go or what position I play I'm going to do my best to shine."
Despite just being a junior, Character said he's very familiar with Pruitt's success at other stops in recent years.
"I liked what he did at Alabama and Florida State," Character said. "I just like him as a coach. For me, he's one of the best defensive backs coaches out there doing it right now and I'm glad he's at Georgia."
While Georgia is out in front right now, Character made it clear that Virginia Tech's recent success in producing top-flight defensive backs has also caught his eye.
"I like Virginia Tech a lot," he said. "My dad has been talking to Coach Gray and he's been doing a good job recruiting me. I just want to get up there on a visit. I haven't been there before and I want to check it out."
As a sophomore, Character had 30 tackles, 3 interceptions and also scored two touchdowns.
