Rivals250 to Watch wide receiver Da'Vante Phillips committed to Florida in July over a handful of other BCS offers. He missed the UF-Miami game in his backyard, which Miami won 21-16 on Sept. 7.
This past weekend he and his teammates enjoyed a bye week. The previous week Phillips scored two touchdowns in his team's road win over Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep.
Phillips will look to help his team improve to 4-1 against Homestead (Fla.), which is led by Rivals100 wideout Ermon Lane. He wants to attend the Miami-Georgia Tech game next Saturday at Sun Life Stadium, but he has to check his schedule.
"I want to see everything," remarked Phillips. "Miami is recruiting me hard outside of Florida. Everything is good with Florida. I'm probably going up for the Arkansas game. There's no added pressure. It's where I feel like I home."
Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and West Virginia are sending him mail and keeping tabs on the four-star flanker.
Last season, he hauled in 28 passes for 471 yards and five touchdowns in helping Miami (Fla.) Central to a Class 6A state title.
