UConn lands PA corner

After offering him last week, cornerback Tevrin Brandon quickly turned around on making a decision. The 5-foot-10, 161-pounder gave his pledge to Connecticut over an offer from Maryland on Tuesday night
"I committed yesterday to Coach Edsall around 5:30 p.m.," he said. "He was excited. We were talking about committing it since they offered. When I told him, he was excited.

"He talked to me about the program and how they are all excited and can't wait to have me get there. They think I can possibly get playing time as a freshman."
What was it about Connecticut that won Brandon over?
"It was everything about Coach Edsall. His ability to talk to you, he's a people person. I like how he runs his program, it's like a family down there, everybody is close," he said. "It's also close to home, only about three hours away.
"Plus, my parents really liked it. We went up on Friday and liked all the facilities, the school itself and the connections you can make after college if you don't make it to the next level."
Mentioned earlier, Brandon believes he's got a chance for early playing time.
"They say with my speed and ability to open my hips and change direction, I just need to get a little bigger," he said. "They talked about possibly me playing as a freshman returning kicks. It's all on me and how hard I work at camp if I show I can compete at that level."
