It has been a busy few days for four-star quarterback and UCLA commit Dorian Thompson-Robinson - and it’s given him a lot to think about.

The Las Vegas Bishop Gorman standout had to go through hearing that the Bruins fired Jim Mora, only to hire Chip Kelly days later.

On Sunday night, Thompson-Robinson got a chance to speak with Kelly for the first time on the phone. It went well.

“He wants me as his quarterback,” Thompson-Robinson said.

“Sees a lot of Marcus Mariota in me and loves my tape. He’s a really upbeat coach. I like his vibe so far.”

Rated as the fourth-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class, Thompson-Robinson has never wavered from his commitment to the Bruins.

As UCLA was even working through its coaching change in the last week, the four-star quarterback said only positive things about the Bruins and his pledge.

After talking to Kelly, it sounds like Thompson-Robinson is as firm as ever. A commit since April, it looks like the four-star quarterback is all set with the Bruins.

“Think (Kelly’s hiring) is huge for the program and I hope it brings in more offensive recruits to this 2018 class,” Thompson-Robinson said.

“I’m still a solid commit. His offensive background speaks for itself, so I can’t wait to get to work.”
