UCLA offers another Odighizuwa

After a fun game of phone tag, Osa Odighizuwa finally got a hold of UCLA defensive line coach Angus McClure on Thursday night and found out he was it.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive line prospect from Portland (Ore.) David Douglas landed his first scholarship offer from the Bruins, whom his older brother Owa Odighizuwa starred for the last few years.

"It means a lot to me and my family," Odighizuwa said "I've been working pretty hard academically and athletically this year, and I'm really glad to see it all paying off."
The Class of 2016 prospect has been hearing from Oregon, Oregon State and Washington, but the Bruins jumped into the race first without specifying which position they view him at. Odighizuwa said he has lined up at defensive end and defensive tackle.
"Coach Angus and I were playing phone tag a bit trying to get a hold of each other, and it wasn't quite working out," Odighizuwa said. "I also got a text message from my brother, and it seemed like he knew they had offered me. Right after I talked to coach, he texted me and congratulated me."
Though UCLA is an attractive option on multiple levels, Odighizuwa said he's felt no pressure to follow in his brother's footsteps to Los Angeles.
"They have a great football program and great academics, and the fact that they offered me to be a part of their program means a lot," Odighizuwa said. "We haven't really talked about what position yet, but I'm sure we'll continue to talk more. My brother and I haven't really talked about the football program much. We've talked about the academics and the engineering program, which is one of the best in the country. That's what I want to go into."
Odighizuwa is also a renowned wrestler - a sport he says has helped him "stay athletic and toughen up." He intends to camp with Oregon and UCLA in June.
