UCLA offers 2017 standout

Greg Johnson talked with UCLA assistant coach Demetrice Martin on Sunday and toward the end of their conversation the 2017 prospect landed his first offer from the Bruins.
The Los Angeles (Calif.) Augustus Hawkins prospect can play running back or defensive back and it seems UCLA wants to recruit him as a corner to start off with but Johnson said he was told he'll have a chance to play offense and special teams as well.

"I just got through talking with coach Martin," Johnson said. "We talked for about 15 minutes. We were just discussing things with the school and things like that. He just told me that they offered me.
"He said that I would be returning punts and be on special teams and he wants me to play corner. He said I would have the chance to play offense, too."
Johnson, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect who looked good at numerous events this off-season, said the UCLA offer is big because he likes the program and especially because it's his first one.
The Augustus Hawkins standout took in his first college football game when UCLA defeated Memphis earlier this season and Johnson said he expects to be back at the Rose Bowl later this year.
"It's big for me because it's my first offer," Johnson said. "About the program, I watch them play on TV and it's really cool."
The 2017 recruit who has allowed only one pass caught on him so far this season and has added eight rushing touchdowns on offense is also receiving plenty of other interest.
Johnson said Tennessee, USC, Washington and Miami are the most involved and that many other teams are sending recruiting mail as well.
