UCLA Lands Big Time OL

UCLA didn't have a typical class for them this past recruiting season finishing in the middle of the Pac 10 but they picked up a huge commitment for the class of 2005. Denver (Colo.) Mullen offensive lineman Jesse White, who could be the top center in the class, committed earlier today to the Bruins.
"Wow, word travels fast," Jesse's mother said. "Yes, Jesse did commit, me and my husband are both from Southern CA so we're very comfortable with the area and know some of the coaches as well. Jesse is excited about it too but I'll let him tell you about it, he's working out in the gym right now but I know he'll love to talk about it."

Seeing how he plays center and is from Colorado, White will obviously draw comparisons to last year's top offensive lineman nationally, Jeff Byers. Although White is very talented, he's not quite at that level. In watching his film, White is an explosive player with great strength. He's very aggressive and plays with a fire and a mean streak you love to see in an offensive lineman. White is also a talented player defensively but we love him at center and that's definitely where he was recruited to play by the Bruins.
White's father is Leon White, the former L.A Ram and current professional wrestler under the name Vader. Leon attended Colorado and we had heard that the younger White grew up a CU fan as well so the decision for him to commit, not only to another school but so early in the process comes as a big of a surprise to us. We'll have more on White's decision after we talk with him later tonight to get the reasons for his commitment.
