UCLA impresses 2014 LB

Tyler Cook had planned to visit USC and UCLA this past weekend, a rare double dip for the 2014 linebacker from Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound prospect only made it to the Arizona-UCLA game but that was enough for Cook, who said he had a great time at the Rose Bowl and was thoroughly impressed by the Bruins.

"I wasn't able to make it to the SC game," Cook said. "By the time Sean Dowling and I headed out we weren't going to be able to make it. We just went to UCLA.
"It was really electric. I got to go in the locker room before the game and after the game and the energy, you could just feel it in the room. It was insane."
Cook, who has early interest from USC, UCLA, Oregon, Duke, BYU and Boise State, said he liked the Bruins' coaching staff especially. An offer from UCLA was not discussed during the trip but he's hopefully the coaches stay in touch.
"They're the first coaching staff I really ever got to meet, the full coaching staff," Cook said. "Each one of them is so motivating and so inspirational. The energy they bring to the game is just crazy.
"They're interested in me but obviously I need to still work on my weight ever since I lost it in the off-season. That's my biggest goal to gain that weight back."
Cook wants to gain about 15 or 20 pounds and then he feels his recruitment could take off even more. Hearing more from Oregon is a priority but Cook is remaining patient and staying open to all schools.
He has already taken unofficial visits to UCLA, USC and Boise State so he is forming a well-rounded opinion of likes and dislikes. He was also supposed to visit BYU this past off-season but did not make the trip.
