UCLA commit checks out Colorado

Colorado had a big recruiting weekend hosting several players from the Golden state. We had a chance to catch up with several of them while in the Boulder airport including Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei defensive end Akeem Ayers.
Ayers, 6-3, 215 pounds committed back in the summer to UCLA but recently said he wanted to take a few official visits to be sure of his decision.

"I had a great trip," Ayers said. "I flew out there Friday night and got in around 10:30. I ate, checked in to my hotel and then went to bed because I was pretty tired.
"Saturday, we ate breakfast with the team, did a walk thru and then headed over to the stadium. The game was great and the fans are crazy. I've been to games at UCLA and USC but I've never heard a crowd like that before. It's a great stadium and it was just really cool to be there and take everything in.
"After the game, I met up with my host, Marquez Herrod, who also plays defensive end and is from California. We ate dinner and then all of us went out together that night. Boulder is a nice place and although it was cold, I got used to it pretty quickly.
"Today, we took a tour of the campus and also met one on one with the coaches. I talked with Coach Hawkins a lot and he was just asking me what I thought of the visit and how interested I was in the school. He's a good guy, the whole staff is. Overall, I really loved the trip a lot and can't think of any negatives from it."
The obvious question for Ayers was how solid is his commitment to UCLA?
"I'm still committed to UCLA, nothing has changed," Ayers said. "There is a reason I committed to UCLA and they're s till my school. I still want to visit Cal and I'll probably do that later in the year for the Stanford game. That will likely be my last visit but we'll see what happens."
