UCLA among new group of offers for Walls

The sweepstakes for McDonough (Ga.) Union Grove safety Avery Walls has not slowed down. This week the 5-foot-11, 184-pound prospect added five more candidates to his list of potential homes with offers from Tennessee, North Carolina, UCF, Tulsa and, on Thursday, UCLA.
"I just got off the phone with Coach Neuheisel," Wall said on Thursday afternoon. "They extended me a scholarship today. It's a real good program actually and playing in the Rose Bowl, right there in Los Angeles, it's a good program. They're ranked in the top 5 in getting degrees so they're a great school academically too."

Wall has made a point to get to several campuses and he hopes that he will be able to get out to southern California to visit the Bruins and their staff as well - he just doesn't know when that will be.
"We're going to try to get up there as soon as possible," he said. "I don't know when that will be because I'm tied up in track and everything so that's been stopping me a lot of times."
Among his other offers from just this week, Walls already has built relationships with a couple of the coaches recruiting him.
"They all kind of stuck out," he said of the other additions. "Coach Malone from Tulsa, he and I had established a good relationship when he was at A&M and now that he's at Tulsa, they showed my tape around and they liked it. Coach Wilcox at UT and Coach Key at UCF are also coaches that I've gotten to know."
Already Walls has made the rounds on a few unofficial visits. Most recently he was at Auburn for a visit to their junior day immediately after receiving an Auburn offer. The trip took place last weekend.
"It actually went really good," he said of the trip. "They offered me the week before and I got up there and the majority of my time was with Coach Thigpen and Coach Roof btu I also got to spend some time with Coach Chizik and I got to tour the campus a little bit. I also got to see a step show on campus and I really enjoyed that."
Walls' remaining visit schedule will be at the mercy of his track schedule. Walls is slated to compete in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4x100, long jump and possibly high jump and triple jump as well.
