THE LATEST

The recent success of UCF on the field is already starting to pay dividends on the recruiting trail, with the Knights starting to win some battles for high profile prospects against out-of-state programs. But another benefit for UCF on the recruiting trail is the program's visibility among younger players. Several up-and-comers are used to the Knights success and consider themselves fans of the program. One of those prospects is Class of 2022 defensive end Mario Eugenio, who recently netted an offer from the Knights. Rivals.com caught up with him to talk about UCF and how the offer might impact his recruitment.

IN HIS WORDS

"I went and camped at UCF and got the offer last month. That was my second offer. I have UCF and Southern Miss now."

Camp experience: "I went by myself to go check things out and work out. UCF was a great experience. They have a beautiful campus. The one-on-ones were tough but I did really well and the coaches like how I was competing. I wanted to take even more reps."

Message from coaches: "They liked my hand movements and they like my physicality. They said that's what they look for in their defensive linemen."

Early offer: "They don't offer a bunch of young guys and I was pretty excited because UCF is one of the schools I like a lot and I like to watch play. I was shocked when my coach told me I have an offer but it feels great."

Return visit: "I'll be going back for sure. I want to go there for a game and see that experience."
