UCF commit to visit Toledo, consider others

LAKELAND, Fla. – Justin McGriff’s commitment to UCF isn’t particularly old. According to the massive receiver, it is, however, solid. Even if that’s not to say he won’t take a final look around before Signing Day.

On his visit schedule currently sits a trip to Toledo. On that front, the plans have already been set in stone and the wheels are in motion.

“Toledo is still coming after me hard,” McGriff said. “I’m gonna check them out. I’m going to visit out there at the end of August.”

His upcoming visit to the Midwest is what McGriff is looking at as a recon trip. Despite the Rockets’ intense recruiting efforts, he feels as though he’ll enter his campus tour blind. It’s a situation McGriff doesn’t mind at all.

“I don’t know that much about Toledo yet, to be honest,” he said. ‘That’s the whole reason I’m going up there. I’m trying to see what they are and what they offer.”

But McGriff, who may also visit Central Michigan this fall, is most focused on his relationship with UCF. The reasons for his commitment to the Golden Knights are many, after all.

“They want me at tight end but also spread me out at receiver,” McGriff said. “I like how they’re going to use me. Then, it’s close to home and I like how they spread the ball out. The graduation rate there is excellent, They went up to 94 percent this year. I like that.”

McGriff, who attends Tampa’s Jefferson High School, committed to UCF in May.

RIVALS REACTION: UCF probably doesn’t have much to worry about at this juncture. The allure of home is plenty to keep McGriff on the hook despite efforts from Toledo. Should a Power Five Conference program offer this fall, however, things on that front could change.
