UAB first to jump on Butler C.C. QB

Three-star El Dorado (Kan.) Butler County C.C. quarterback Chad Wilmott is riding high. He recently was named the Jayhawk Conference’s offensive player of the year and his team just found out last night that they’re going to play for the national championship on December 6.
“We leave on December 2 or 3rd,” Wilmott, who is 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, said. “We’re going out to St. George Utah to play in the Dixie Rotary Bowl against Dixie State.”

It marks the fourth time that Butler has faced Dixie in the bowl game and this time – as before – it’s for all the marbles.
“We’re playing great ball,” Wilmott said. “We appear to be peaking at the right time.”
Wilmott has been peaking all season long. He threw for more than 2,000 yards this season, making him one of the hottest targets in the junior college ranks.
But at this point only one team has stepped forward with an offer. UAB offered early on and will get a visit from him on December 12.
“Illinois was in here last Thursday and they took back some tape, and they’re going to start to get in contact with me,” he said. “SMU was calling me hard for a while, but I’ve not heard from them in a few weeks.”
