Tyler is a Terp

Wagener (S.C.) Wagener-Salley athlete Ronnie Tyler concluded his recruitment this past weekend on an official visit to Maryland by giving the Terps his verbal commitment. The 5-foot-10, 168-pounder chose the Terrapins over offers from Clemson, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
"I committed to them on Saturday and told coach Friedgen," he said. "It was a great time when I told him because he then said to me that I have a good chance of coming in and filling a void at slot receiver. Friedgen was very happy I committed and told me now I'm apart of their family."

What made Tyler decide to go to College Park?
"The school overall is great and it's in a great location for me after I graduate. I should be able to get a good job around there," he said. "I also really liked everyone on the coaching staff including coach Friedgen, he's a real down-to-earth guy."
With the possibility of playing next year, what is Tyler doing to get ready?
"I know I just have to continue to work hard and do what I've been doing," he said. "I plan to work on gaining some weight, getting stronger and just improving my overall abilities. I feel once I get there I can bring my hardworking attitude to help them as well."
The three-star prospect is relieved and excited to have the decision behind him.
"On my visit, I knew Maryland was the place for me and now I feel great," he said. "I know I finally found my spot. I am honored to be a Terp and I can't wait to come to College Park."
