Tye with two offers, one favorite

Oftentimes if a program gets an early start on a recruit and is the first to extend an offer that school has an advantage.
While Middletown (Conn.) Xavier tight end/defensive end Will Tye is grateful for his offers from Temple and Villanova, another school currently tops his list.

"I like Maryland," the 6-foot-3, 230-pound jumbo athlete explained. "I like where they're (located) and how the school is. They've got a nice campus."
Tye has been keeping in touch with coaches from Maryland, Iowa and Penn State, in addition to coaches from the two schools that have offered him. What does he think of Temple and Villanova?
"They offered me on Friday," he said. "They came by my school and I sent film out to them. I went to both camps for both schools. I'm interested in Temple. I like how it's right there in the city (Philadelphia). That's one nice thing about it."
Tye said he may take some visits later in July but he has not scheduled anything quite yet.
He went on to talk about his game on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. That may provide good insight into why coaches think he is an intriguing prospect.
"I'm more of a receiving tight end. When I get the ball I'm a threat to go the distance, guaranteed," Tye said. "On defense I'm more of a speed-rusher. I have good lateral movement towards the ball. I bring pressure."
He said he does not have a preference when it comes to playing offense or defense.
