Two-way standout rgetting ready for season

As the high school football season is fast approaching there is player is poised to have a big season on both sides of the ball in wide receiver/cornerback Jared Billups (6-0, 170, 4.4) from Play del Rey (Calif.) Saint Bernard.
“Jared has worked hard in the off-season getting himself ready to go,” Saint Bernard head coach Greg Dixon said. “He’s a great all-around player on both sides of the ball.”

“Jared makes plays and makes things happen,” Dixon said. “He rarely comes off the field. He plays both ways and on most special teams.”
Billups was selected all-league as a junior after catching 32 passes for 736 yards and six touchdowns as a wide receiver.
On defense, Billups accounted for 47 tackles and picked off four passes, one of his picks he returned for a touchdown.
“Jared in my estimation was the best cover corner in the league, “Saint Bernard head coach Greg Dixon said. “He has tremendous desire and has the determination to stick with the play.”
“As a wide receiver Billups is solid,” Dixon said. “He’s very athletic and makes the tough catch.”
Offensively Billups should benefit by being one of four star quarterback Rocky Hinds main targets as they hook up for their senior season.
Cal is the slight leader at this time with Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State and Ivy League schools in the mix.
Billups is a player who could see his stock get a boost this fall.
