Skinny: Johnson could end up playing tight end or linebacker on the next level, but it looks like he will end up playing on the offensive side of the ball when he gets to college. Johnson had a nice performance two-weeks ago the Stanford Nike camp.
Bellarmine head coach Mike Janda feels that the recruitment for his standout is just about to begin.
Johnson didn’t get a lot of opportunity to catch the ball as a junior, but he didn’t mope, he became one terrific run blocker from his tight end position. He is very explosive off the line of scrimmage.
Johnson has good hands he just needs the opportunity to show them off.
On defense as an outside linebacker, Johnson has good lateral movement and like on offense, he has a quick burst off the ball. He’s excellent at putting heat on the passer and is also very solid against the run. Johnson is excellent in containment and he strings plays out for the pursuit.
“Langston is three-year varsity player and he’s improved every year,” Janda said. “He combines speed, quickness and strength.”
“Langston is has an outstanding work ethic and has become a dominating blocking tight end,” Janda said. “He is one of the best tight ends we have ever had at the school.”
