Two watching Kansas safety closely

Liberal, Kan., safety Mackenzie Rosel has begun to draw attention from college coaches as he prepares for his senior season.
“Mackenzie is fully recovered from the virus he had last year that kept him from playing a lot,” Liberal coach Steve Warner said. “He doesn’t have any scholarship offers yet, but I think that will change. Most schools, I think, are waiting until the season starts so they can evaluate him in person and on film.”

Rosel, the younger brother of former Michigan tight end Eric Rosel, did what he could during the summer to help promote his skills.
“He went to camps at K-State and Nebraska,” Warner said of the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder. “I think those are the two that are on him the most right now. Those are the two I have spoken to about him recently. They are keeping a close eye on him.”
Warner, in his first year since moving from Marysville, Kan., is working on implementing his system and his new players are adjusting.
“Everyone is getting adjusted to my system,” Warner said. “They’re not there yet, but they’re close. It will be fun to get on the field for a game on Friday. We open with Ulysses and we’ll be ready to go.”
Rosel, a safety prospect for colleges most likely, will line up at linebacker for Warner’s team.
“He’s back to full speed and he’s a heck of an athlete. He’ll play at linebacker for us this year. He’ll probably be a safety in college, but we need him a little closer to the ball where we can use his athletic abilities.”
