Two official visits are set for standout wide receiver James Townsend of Delran (N.J.) Holy Cross. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound burner will head to Iowa on Dec. 13 and then to Minnesota on Dec.20.
“So many schools have asked me to come and visit on Dec. 6, but I’m leaving that date open for the state playoffs. If we don’t make it, then I’ll schedule a visit for that date.”
Besides his visits to Iowa and Minnesota, Townsend will decide between Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina and Syracuse for his final three.
“I plan on taking all five trips, I want to get a feel for all those schools. I really don’t have a favorite right now, but I’m getting close.”
Holy Cross has a record of 3-2 so far this season and Townsend has 22 catches for 347 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned a punt 52 yards for a score.
Is there a chance that other schools could come into play?
“I think so. I’m not going to change the two visits I have set, but another school or two could jump into the mix. I’ll wait and see before I set up any other visits.”
Townsend has more than 20 offers at this time. With 4.35-second speed in the 40-yard dash, excellent hands and quick feet, he is able to separate from defenders. Along with playing receiver, he could also be a dangerous return specialist in college.
