Two visits left for Howard

Defensive tackle Carl Howard has taken official visits to Rutgers and Maryland, and will soon take trips to two of his other favorites. He's not ready to decide yet, but should have a decision within a few weeks.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Matawan, N.J. defensive tackle runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds and bench presses 300 pounds. Where will he take his upcoming visits?

"I've had trips planned to NC State (Jan. 16) and Maryland (Jan. 23) here for a little while," he said. "Now I'm thinking about scheduling a fifth visit to either Michigan State or Miami."
Why the sudden interest in the 'Canes?
"Miami is a school that has really shown a lot of interest lately. They aren't as high as some of the other schools on my list yet, but if I schedule a visit and go there that could change. They've offered me a scholarship. Alabama is another school that has offered and is showing interest. I'll consider them too."
No one school stands out as the leader for Howard, but he's already decided he's not waiting until Signing Day.
"I know it's not all clear now, but I really think after my visits I'll be ready to make a decision. I may wait a couple of days, but I should be ready then. Whether that's after the Virginia Tech visit or a trip to Michigan State or Miami, I don't know. But it will probably be by the end of January."
