Two-sport star has offers

One of the top prospects in the state of Oregon for the class of 2004 is Ryan Keeling (6-5, 230, 4.7) from Springfield (Ore.) Thurston. Keeling has the potential to play on either side of the ball on the D-I level as a tight end or Sam linebacker.
Keeling was selected second-team all-region on both sides of the ball for the last two seasons.

So far Keeling has offers from Oregon State, Portland State and Idaho. He has received calls since September 1st from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona State, Cal, Idaho and Boise State.
No visits are set yet but he’s talking about setting trips with Oregon State, Oregon, Cal and Arizona State.
Keeling is an outstanding all-around athlete who is also getting some recruiting attention from Santa Clara, UC-Santa Barbara and Eastern Washington.
“Oregon State said I could play both sports for the Beavers,” Keeling said.
Is there a favorite college for Keeling?
“I grew up liking the Ducks so they are probably the my leader,” Keeling said. “The campus is only ten minutes away from house.”
If the Ducks were to offer you tomorrow would commit?
“No,” Keeling said. “I would tell them they are the leader.”
Keeling and his Thurston teammates currently stand at 1-1 for the young season. Keeling plays like a wide receiver for Thurston and has accounted for 10 receptions for 184 yards and three touchdowns.
Thurston high school will have their work cut out for them this Friday evening when they hook up with Vancouver (Wash.) Mountain View.
Mountain View is ranked number seven in the state of Washington.
“Mountain View passed the ball 68 times last week,” Keeling said. “So I will be playing defensive end. Hopefully I will be able to disrupt their passing attack.”
