Two-sport star gaining interest

Southern Pines (N.C.) Pinecrest junior James Baldwin is known as one of the top wide receivers in the state of North Carolina, but he is also a nice baseball prospect as well.
The 6-foot-2, 181-pound prospect is currently batting .340 on the year for Pinecrest as he and his squad enter the playoffs as a No. 2 seed.

His focus has inevitably been on baseball of late, so he has not been able to devote much attention to the football recruiting process.
Baldwin holds an offer from East Carolina and said he has maintained some level of contact with the Pirates' coaching staff.
"I've talked to someone from East Carolina but I forgot his name," Baldwin said. "I don't know too much right now. I'm just trying to keep my mind open. I'm going to wait until my senior year and try to figure everything out."
Baldwin lacks game breaking speed but projects as a solid possession-type receiver in the college ranks.
His hands and route-running ability explain why he is receiving interest from North Carolina and NC State as well.
"I plan on going to all three of them (UNC, NC State and ECU)," he said. "I might go to the South Carolina camp, too."
