Two-sport standout has the goods

Wallace Gonzalez III (6-5, 235, 4.7) from La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat is one of the best two-sport standouts on the west coast. He is getting serious recruiting interest for both his talents on the gridiron and the diamond.
This weekend Gonzalez was in Arizona playing baseball and the week before, he was at David Schuman's Underclass Combine in Los Angeles where he won the Camp's MVP award for tight ends. He was probably the best receiver at the camp regardless of position.

At the camp, Gonzalez displayed soft hands, outstanding routes, the athleticism and body control to adjust in the air and make outstanding grabs. There aren't that many players with the size, speed and athleticism that Gonzalez possesses. Definitely a talent to reckon with on the gridiron.
Rivals.com caught up with Gonzalez while on his way home from the tournament he participated this weekend.
"We were playing against some Canadian team," Gonzalez said. "I did pretty good."
Gonzalez plays center field and he is getting recruiting attention from almost every school in the Pac 10. He hit .386 , had four home runs 13 RBI's and 10 stolen bases. His performance helped earn an all-state underclassman nod in the bargain. He was also an all-tournament selection and remember, Gonzalez accomplished this feat as a sophomore.
Because of CIF transfer rules, Gonzalez had to sit out as a junior, but as a sophomore while playing at Glendora, Calif., high school he earned all-CIF, all-area, all-league and all-state underclass.
Gonzalez was dominating as a sophomore. He had 64 catches for 1,018 yards and five touchdowns.
Like in baseball pretty much the entire Pac 10 is taking a good long look at the talented and versatile athlete for his skills in football.
What is Gonzalez looking for in a college?
"A school that will let me play both sports," Gonzalez said. "That's pretty much it a school that I'll get a full ride, let me play both baseball and football and school with good academics and good environment."
Gonzalez attended both UCLA and USC's junior days recently.
A hard worker, Gonzalez is going to participate at the NIKE Camp to be held in Los Angeles in April and he is also planning on taking in the Under Armor camp that is coming up.
