The talent level is not the question for defensive end/wide receiver Pierre Allen of Denver (Colo.) Thomas Jefferson High School, it's deciding which sport he wants to use that talent in between football and basketball at the next level.
At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, the No. 19 rated player in Colorado for football has the ability to do both very well. Football offers have rolled in now from two teams and Allen is starting to think about his options. Syracuse was first and a Big 12 team has added their name to the list.
"Nebraska offered about a month or so ago," Allen said. "I don't know what I want to do yet on football or basketball. Lately, I've been thinking I'd like to go ahead and do both."
Allen admits that doing both sports could be tough to handle so he is starting think about what he would do if he was to just play one.
"If I'm going to play just basketball I'll go to Syracuse," Allen said. "If I'm just going to play football, I'm going to Nebraska for sure. Actually, Kansas State and Nebraska just sent me schedules for their games so I'm going to try and see those schools."
While Syracuse is recruiting Allen for defense, Nebraska likes Allen at the wide receiver position. Considering he is listing them as his current favorites, things seem to still be up in the air for the talented young man.
On the school side of things, his football season is about to get underway and already looking good.
"We had our inner-squad scrimmage yesterday and it went well," he said. "I think we've got the whole deal this year."
