Two on top for FL defensive end

Spring Practice is underway at Longwood (Fla.) Lake Mary and though defensive end Demi Thompson is not yet full speed, he is still very active on and off the field.
"It's going well," Thompson said. "We just started hitting last wee but for me it was this week because I came off a hamstring pull. Football's going well."

The hamstring was injured during a strong showing at the Nike Gainesville Nike Camp and Thompson tweaked it since but he is confident he will be at full go soon. However, what is at full go is the 6-foot-1 245-pound defenders recruitment.
"So far, I have offers from Duke, Cincinnati, USF, UCF, Purdue and by word, North Carolina State," he said. "A lot of schools have been coming by saying they like me like South Carolina, Arkansas and Alabama."
There are two schools in particular that hold the most interest for Thompson at this point in his recruitment.
"I really like USF and I'm going down to a Florida camp during the summer and I think those two are my two favorites," he said.
While USF has already offered, Charlie Strong from Florida stopped by Lake Mary just recently expressing an interest as well.
What is it about the Bulls' program that has Thompson interested?
"Just their facilities are real nice. Their coaching staff is real nice. Jim Leavitt is a great coach. My dad loves him too. My dad's a pastor and Jim Leavitt is a Christian. The players have good work ethic and seem really close. I just like the school."
Florida also gives Thompson plenty of enthusiasm.
"If I went to Florida, I think that it would make me a much better player because everyone there is so good. Everyone there is top of the line athletes. They're always competing always going at it."
Thompson has begun to look at his summer travel plans and due to the national level of his recruitment, he will be hitting the Midwest as well as the Southeast.
"I'm probably going up North and see Purdue, Cincinnati and maybe Duke," he said. "Notre Dame too because I really like them. I'll probably do both camps and campus visits."
Thompson also has a plan for when he will be ready for a decision.
"I'll probably commit over the summer," he said. "I'll go down to some camps. Go to Florida, go up North. Definitely most likely make my commitment in the summer because why should I wait?"
