Two New UCLA Commitments

We just talked to Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive back Rodney Van who is home from his official visit to UCLA. Van said the team picked up two new commitments from a pair of Louisiana players.
This definitely has not been a typical UCLA recruiting class. We can't remember a year where they took so many 'sleeper' type prospects and that appears to be the case again.

Fred Holmes, a 6-1, 230 pound linebacker and Chris Johnson, a 6-3, 270 pound defensive tackle, both from River Ridge (La.) John Curtis Christian tripped to Westwood this weekend and according to Van, both committed.
"I don't know much about them but they both look the part," Van said. "They committed on Saturday and then everyone was all excited for them and an announcement was made. Hopefully they're good players, we need some in our program. It was a fun trip. Me and Byron (Velega) mostly kicked it with Rocky Hinds all weekend. Rocky said it's between us and USC but he didn't say if he was leaning one way or the other."
We'll try and track down more on the pair from Lousiana over the next couple of days.
