Two new schools evaluating Coles

Clairton, Pennsylvania wide receiver Trenton Coles is well known in the surrounding areas and a local college has shown a lot of early interest.

In fact, Coles picked up a verbal offer from Pitt earlier in the recruiting process.

The status of that offer is not entirely clear, as the Panthers have undergone some coaching changes since the verbal offer was extended. Nonetheless, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver told Rivals.com over the weekend that he has stayed in at least some contact with Pitt and is still interested in the Big East school.

While contact with college coaches is still very limited, Coles is hearing from a couple of new schools.

"The latest mail I got was from Northwestern and Tennessee," Coles explained. "They were basically questionnaires that I just filled out and sent back in."

Coles said he isn't sure what colleges his coaches at Clairton may have been in contact with.

He said it is too early to start to think about favorites.
