Two new offers for John Kelly

Now that the senior season of Oak Park, Mich., athlete John Kelly has ended, the recruiting intensity is starting to pick up and he's already added two new offers this week.
The most recent offer for the 5-foot-10, 191-pound Kelly came through Wednesday morning from Tennessee.

"I was in touch with Coach Strip (Steve Stripling) a little bit last year," Kelly said. "Then, my running backs coach got in touch with the running backs coach at Tennessee and they got a chance to see my film. They said they really liked me and they've got a really big need at the running back position."
Kelly learned about the offer during a phone conversation with Tennessee running backs coach Robert Gillespie.
"Me and him talked on the phone for about 30 minutes," Kelly said. "I think (Tennessee's offer) is for an offensive athlete."
Tennessee is also recruiting Kelly's close friend, four-star running back Mike Weber who de-committed from Michigan this past weekend.
"It's funny because me and (Weber) just got done talking about (Tennessee) five minutes ago," Kelly said. "We're definitely looking into it a lot and we'll probably get a chance to get down there."
Kelly had scheduled his first official visit to Minnesota for the weekend of Dec. 12, but he is looking for a new date for that trip.
"I actually had to reschedule that. It didn't work out for me because I have some school things I have to take care of," Kelly said. "Right now the only one I have down for sure is my visit to Michigan State, and that's going to be Jan. 16. Me, Mikey and Kyonta Stallworth are all visiting on the same day and those are two of my guys right there."
Another school that is making a move up Kelly's board is Iowa, which offered a scholarship Tuesday night.
"Me and Coach (Phil) Parker have a really good relationship and he has a really good relationship with my coaching staff as well," Kelly said. "They have Desmond King down there and me and Desmond played for the same 7-on-7 program for years, so that's my guy right there. I'm definitely looking into Iowa a lot."
With the new offers, Iowa and Tennessee are both in the mix for one of Kelly's official visit slots. Michigan has been one of Kelly's three leaders since they offered earlier this fall, and the Wolverines continue to factor in as well.
"I am definitely still looking into Michigan," Kelly said. "I was talking to a few of their players today, like Jourdan Lewis before he went to his classes."
Kelly led Oak Park to an 8-3 record this fall by rushing 124 times for 1,321 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also started at cornerback and returned two kicks for touchdowns.
