Offensive lineman Kurt Mattes , a varsity starter since his freshman year, played tight end and defensive tackle his junior season. He caught 14 passes and had an 84% blocking percentage.
The 6-foot-6 and 265 pounder is drawing plenty of interest from recruiters and has added Syracuse and Connecticut to his list of scholarship offers.
"I have offers from Virginia, Pitt, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, and Connecticut," Mattes said. "I'm interested in the schools that offered. And Michigan, Penn State, Indiana, Northwestern, and Iowa. Most of them have been to my school."
"I've had a couple calls. Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Michigan called."
"I've been to junior days at Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Pitt. And spring games at Virginia and Virginia Tech. All of them are nice places. I had a good time at all of them."
"I don't have a favorite."
