Spencer Boyd, one of the top prospects from Southwest Florida picked up two big scholarship offers today. Boyd, from Cape Coral (Fla.) High School, got offered by Notre Dame and Central Florida.
"Getting one from Notre Dame is so exciting," Boyd said. "They are top notch. They landed good class with Cierre Wood. Coach (Charlie) Weis is a great coach, went to the Super Bowl and very down to earth.
"Central Florida has great coaches, it's close to home and you can play in this Florida weather. They play good ball.
"It feels great to have these offers on the table. It's a big relief."
Boyd now has five offers. Duke, Wake Forest and Marshall have also offered him. Boyd, 5-10 and 160 pounds, is a two-way standout at running back and cornerback. Last season he recorded 30 tackles and one interception (104 yard return for a touchdown). He also rushed for 620 yards and six scores.
"At this point I just want to explore all the schools and see what they have to offer in terms of academics and facilities."
Boyd will attend junior days at USF on the 18th and UCF on the 28th.
