Jeremy Deering is a prospect on the rise from Tampa, Fla. Deering, 6-2 and 198 pounds, is a terrific athlete from Leto High School. He's currently sitting on 17 scholarship offers after picking up two today.
"Florida State and Duke offered me today," Deering said. "I am excited to get the FSU offer. I always watched them and Florida play the most. I like the Florida State program although I didn't watch them too much last season. I will check them out for sure
"I honestly don't know too much about Duke but I know they have great academics."
FSU, Duke, Purdue, Syracuse, West Virginia, UCF, USF, Ole Miss, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Marshall, Illinois, and North Carolina have all offered Deering to this point. It's still somewhat surprising to him.
"This is all so unexpected. I am just looking for a place that fits me. I want good academics and a good social environment.
"Right now I am considering everyone and I will have a final list this summer after I take some visits and research some school. I will have a top five. I am still considering who to visit. My coach is handling that. He follows the college teams. I don't. He knows the places that I should see and I would be interested in."
Deering, a three-star prospect, is the No. 37 ranked athlete in the nation. He projects as a likely wide receiver at the next level. As a junior playing quarterback he rushed for over 1,000 yards and threw for over 800. Deering accounted for 15 scores.
