Two major offers for Magnuson

Things are happening fast for Erik Magnuson and the offensive tackle from Carlsbad (Calif.) La Costa Canyon picked up two big offers early this week when Miami and Michigan got involved in his recruitment.
Having the Wolverines in the mix is not a major surprise since the 6-foot-6, 275-pound prospect had been talking to coach Brady Hoke and his staff since they were at San Diego State. The Miami offer is huge and the Hurricanes have quickly moved to the top of Magnuson's list.

"I thought the Michigan one was coming because the coaches came from San Diego State and I know the coaches pretty well," Magnuson said.
"I'm really excited about that one but The U is on another level. I wasn't expecting that one. When I was talking to the Miami coach I couldn't stop pacing, I was walking up and down. I'm still shocked by it. There are some things I like about every school but that's The U."
Arizona, Colorado State, Oregon, San Diego State and UCLA have also offered Magnuson, who said out of the programs that have offered Miami and Oregon stand out the most.
He's being patient with his recruitment and waiting to see which other teams get involved but the Hurricanes and Ducks will stay near the top.
"I'm taking a back seat and seeing how it goes but it would be fair to see Miami is right there at the top," Magnuson said. "I have big-time schools recruiting me and Oregon is definitely up there, too. Out of my offers, those are standing out right now."
Magnuson hopes USC gets more involved. He attended the Trojans' junior day this past weekend and said the coaching staff has been getting more interested. Although Ohio State hasn't been in touch so far, Magnuson said he'd also love to hear from the Buckeyes.
"I want to get that USC offer," he said. "USC for me is like the West Coast version of The U. That's big time. I talk to them a lot and I went to their junior day so I think I should get that offer. The other big-time program I'd like to hear from is Ohio State."
