With offers from Minnesota and a good number of MAC schools, Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral safety John Turner is a defensive back to watch as we enter the summer.
At 6-foot-2 and 200-pounds, Turner has an ideal build for a college safety. He can run and has solid ball skills, too, making him an intriguing prospect in the secondary.
He plans on camping at a few schools over the next two or three weeks in an effort to pick up more offers.
"I'm going to Purdue on Friday and then Indiana on Sunday," Turner explained. "Then I'll be deciding between Iowa and Illinois. I know I'll be going to Notre Dame on (June) 23 and then Northwestern on (June) 24. Those are all camps."
Minnesota, as mentioned, has already offered Turner, but the Gophers aren't alone atop his list.
"I do like Minnesota and Temple," he said.
"I feel like Minnesota's trying to move in the right direction and get back to being a winning program. I also like their coaches.
"For Temple, I like the program and the coaches. I used to live on the east coast, like an hour away from Philadelphia. That would be a real good area for me."
Turner isn't sure when he will be making a decision, partly because he doesn't know what his offer list will look like at the end of the summer.
"That (his decision date) probably depends on what offers I get from camps and during the season. I'll probably decide towards the end of the season or after it's over," he concluded.
