Two in front for Washington

West Monroe (La.) three-star defensive tackle John Washington has turned heads over the past few years as a presence in the middle of the Rebels defensive front.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound defender has received interest from the likes of Baylor, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State, but two schools have been showing the most attention.

"It's kind of neck and neck right now," Washington said. "Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette."
He has already had a chance to check out both programs this spring with trips to watch practice and scrimmages. Both programs left a favorable impression.
"It was pretty good to me," Washington said of Louisiana Tech. "I liked the coaches. They're kind of energetic like the players.
"It was a really nice down there," he said of Louisiana-Lafayette. "All the coaches were laid back. Their stadium, they're getting all this stuff built out there and everything is in one area. There's a lot of people and it's laid back. "
When it comes to summer plans, Washington also has a few plans.
"I'm probably going to attend some camps in the summer time," he said. "I'm supposed to going to one in Shreveport for Louisiana-Lafayette and I'm going to Tech's summer camp."
At this point in the process, Washington admits the two Louisiana programs are currently at the top of his early list.
"Yeah, ULL and Louisiana Tech are starting to really stand out to me," Washington said.
The standout defender is waiting for his first offer, and is currently planning to make a post-season college decision. However, he does know what he is looking for in a future college program.
"I'd say probably academics and I'll see how I fit in with that," Washington said.
