Two horse race for Thompson

Sacramento (Calif.) Grant defensive back Syd Thompson has taken two official visits and despite the two schools he visited being at the top of his list, the athlete said he’ll likely take at least two if not all three visits he has left.
“Right now, I couldn’t decide between Oklahoma and Cal,” Thompson said. “Some days I like Oklahoma better, other days I like Cal. I had great trips to both schools and I really don’t see how I can go wrong with either right now.

“At Oklahoma, they have great tradition and have been good for awhile now. They really get after on defense and I like the coaches a lot, they’re very intense. With Cal, I tripped there two weeks ago and had a great time. I’ve been to Cal a lot because it’s close to home and I know a lot of the players there and have played with some of them already.
“As far as making a decision, I’m not even close right now. I’m taking an official visit to UCLA this weekend (Dec. 3) and I’m also planning to visit Kansas State but I don’t have a firm date yet. If I take a 5th visit, which I want to do, it will be to either Tennessee or Florida. I like the SEC and both of those two schools have shown me a lot of interest. Once I’m done with my trips, that’s when I’ll make my decision but Cal and Oklahoma are way ahead right now.”
