Two favorites emerge for Powell

Two favorites have emerged for Kameron Powell but the three-star defensive back from Upland, Calif., said he does not plan to rush a commitment.
"Washington State and Utah stand out the most," Powell said.

"I like those two schools. I like them a lot. Other than that I'm not really leaning toward anybody. I'm just relaxing and letting everything happen.
"I like the coaches at both schools. I like coach (Ken) Wilson at Washington State and I like all the coaches at Utah. My quarterback (Tyler Hilinski) just got offered by Washington State so I'm looking to go with him. I like him a lot as a player."
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound prospect made those comments last weekend at the IMG 7on7 West Regional where he did not compete because he's still coming back from an ankle injury.
A weight was accidentally dropped on his ankle in the last few weeks and Powell has not participated in any events since that time.
The Upland standout is working out with the team for spring ball but is being precautious on the 7on7 circuit.
"My coach told me to sit out 7on7 but I've been back with the school," Powell said.
"I've been working out with the school but my coach doesn't want me to come out here and hurt it again. I should be back out here probably the next couple tournaments."
So far, Powell has been offered by Colorado, Colorado State, Oregon State, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
The three-star said some more schools are showing interest and more offers could be on the way through the spring.
"There's nothing new right now with recruiting but I've been hearing from a lot of other schools like Vanderbilt, Arizona, Utah State and some other schools," Powell said.
